An idea emerges, suddenly and surprisingly. The “a-ha!” experience is the emotional response occurring in the same instant as a sudden insight. Some describe it as a bolt of lightening or an electric current. The movement between concealment and discovery, dissolution and emergence, allows for the instant of revelation. The activity of art-making gives rise to an experience of revelation. The encounter between the artist, the artwork, the exhibition, the viewers and the museum is what enables it to take place.
The works in this exhibition give expression to different moments of emergence, creation out of fragmentation, movement through a wound as a condition for renewal, or disappearance and withdrawal allowing for the creation of something new.
